30 Logo OldThe 30th Reigate Scout Group was founded in 1925, the official registration date with Headquarters is 21st August. Initially founded by William C Davis, and meeting in a disused stable block at Hartinton House, the troop consisted of six boys from Reigate Grammar School. By the early thirties, the troop had swollen in number to nearly 50 including a cub pack.

In the mid thirties, the group's HQ moved from a series of temporary homes to a new (second hand) hut erected behind the old police station (now Upper West Street car park).

In 1951, the group moved into it's present HQ, then the "Reigate Youth's Institute" and renamed it to Somers Hall.

The group's early heydays were the sixties and seventies when numbers swelled up to over 150 youth members.

Numbers dropped in the eighties and nineties in line with the popularity of scouting.

At the start of a new centenary of scouting numbers have dramatically increased and with a Beaver Colony, a large Cub Pack, two bulging Scout Troops and an Explorer unit. Numbers are larger today than they have been in the group's history.
