Winter Camp 2012

Scouts and Explorers – Gilwell WinterCamp 2012
Last weekend saw the older Scouts team up with the Columbus Explorer Unit to go to this annual event at Gilwell Park. Attended by over 2,500 young people, it is one of the most popular events of the year. The 30th have attended before and after such a fantastic time in the snow last year, we didn’t want to pass up the opportunity of going again! Travelling down in a convoy of 2 minibuses and a van were 25 scouts and explorers and 5 of the leadership team.

Columbus Explorers took to the track on 20th July at TeamSport in Crawley.
An exciting set of races saw our our explorers driving flat out round Crawley's three stories race circuit at Team Sport.
Explorer Leaders Stitch Up - March 2009
It was only a matter of time before someone got hurt. Luckily for us it was only our version of Mr Black. But who was the culprit, the chief suspects were hauled in front of the investigating Explorers. Was it Sgt Sears, Tony the tramp, Tim the Surgeon, the very Rev Brittain or Wing Cmdr Bull?
In an evening of searching for clues, interogating suspects, solving puzzles - would our expert sleuths be able to uncover the truth. They certainly unearthed a lot - some of the suspects talked a lot, but not always anything of use. And sometimes clues slipped through their fingers.
By the end of the evening, through some very clever the suspect was identified and the explorers congratulated for the assistance by the police.
