Explorer Leaders Stitch Up - March 2009

news2009cluedoIt was only a matter of time before someone got hurt. Luckily for us it was only our version of Mr Black. But who was the culprit, the chief suspects were hauled in front of the investigating Explorers. Was it Sgt Sears, Tony the tramp, Tim the Surgeon, the very Rev Brittain or Wing Cmdr Bull?

In an evening of searching for clues, interogating suspects, solving puzzles - would our expert sleuths be able to uncover the truth. They certainly unearthed a lot - some of the suspects talked a lot, but not always anything of use. And sometimes clues slipped through their fingers.

By the end of the evening, through some very clever the suspect was identified and the explorers congratulated for the assistance by the police.

 
Cubs - Comic Relief - March 2009

 This March, the Cubs held a special Comic Relief Evening. The Cubs made balloon rockets and balloon towers as part of their fun evening and raised £55.

Scouts - Medallists at Surrey Cyclo-Cross - March 2009

The 27th Annual Surrey Scouts Cyclo-Cross was held this Sunday 15th in the glorious spring sunshine of Ranmore Wood in Dorking. The challenging course was brilliantly and as always very safely laid out by the Surrey Scout Radio Team, who has the organisation of this complicated event down to a fine art.

This year saw 82 Scouts taking part from across the County, split into under 12's, under 13's, under 14's and two explorer races.

Scouts - Cowhorn 2009

Once again the Scout Section has produced a very good result in this years Cowhorn. Our teams came in 1st, 2nd and 8th. Of particular note, our 1st placed team even won after setting out in the wrong direction at the start! Points were awarded for accuracy of route, timing, arriving in right direction, as a team, wearing correct gear plus activity points earned on bases. Well done to everyone who took part – you all did us proud.

Beavers - Promise Challenge - March 2009

This term in Beavers we have been busy doing lots of badges! We have just completed out Promise Challenge. This involved us all looking closer at our Scout Promise. We spent time doing activities including:

·         Writing prayers

·         Taking part in an Investiture

·         Taking part in an act of worship

·         Listening to stories from faiths

·         Learning about Fair trade

·         Thinking how we can do our best

      to help our parents around the house (!)
